Leaving Castilla
y León and entering, just before the mountain village of O Cebreiro,
the 4th and the last autonomous region in Camino Francés: Galicia.
And the province is now Lugo. After another 100 kms, between the towns of Casanova and Leboreiro you will enter to A Coruña, the last province on the Camino. In Galicia you will find again the signs in two languages, Spanish (Castellano) and Galician (gallego), a language more or less intelligible with Portuquese. In Galicia many of the refugios are provided by local Government, Xunta, at intervals of 10-15 kms. In Galicia the number of pilgim's on the Road goes up considerably, so forget those quiet mountain paths before. To qualify for the Compostela one must walk the last 100 km to Santiago. O Cebreiro (151 km from Santiago) is a popular place to start, as well as Sarria (112 km). [Back
