Along the way to Santiago de  Compostela

And what about the refugios! Or albergues, like they are called in Spanish. Most of them are very simple, like this Refugio de Peregrinos Itzandeguia in Roncesvalles.

The refugios usually come with one or more large dormitories with bunk beds and decent washing facilities for body and clothes. Some, mostly private ones, are more luxurious (even too much so?). The refugios are run by various of organisations: monasteries, the local authorities, one of the associations of Friends of St. James. They usually ask a donation for their services. There are also increasing number of private refugios, that are run like commercial businesses and have set charges like hotels.
